The Dior runway show, spring-summer 2012-2013

Raf Simons’ first prêt-à-porter collection for the Dior fashion house explores the theme of liberation; dear to him and with a deep resonnance with the history of the fashion brand.

The will to break with a certain sexual uniformity linked to minimalism and to totally give into the emotional, sexual, sensual and feminine side. Ode to the feminine body, movement, exhuberance, transparency , joy are the keys to this prêt-à-porter.

Particular emphasis is placed on the structured silhouette of the « Bar »jacket, emblem of  the Dior fashion house, but also of femininity itself as emphasized by the structured jacket.

The biggest transformation is that of the jacket into a mini dress.  This new jacket-dress and the short silhouette are the key elements of this collection.  This sexual liberation can be seen as a reference to the early  prêt-à-porter Dior  in the sixties.

It is this view of the past that moves forward, daring to break the purity of  the cut and of conventions is at the heart of the Dior fashion house. And, more than anything, this collection focuses on the human and emotional. While organza curtains with the colors of the rainbow break the minimalist purity of the « white box » where the runway show takes place, the decor of this contemporary space recalls the human and intimate aspects of fashion .
