On a soft September night…
Paris, ailment fashion capital of the world? If any doubt remained, check the supposition was verified on September 10, 2009 during Vogue Fashion Celebration Night. Organized by Vogue magazine, the event was held simultaneously in 13 cities around the planet: In Paris, of course, but also in Berlin, New York, Beijing and Moscow, Athens and Madrid. To prove that the luxury industry remains a weapon against the economic crisis, the boutiques of the great fashion avenues stayed open into the night, giving fans the opportunity to discover the latest collections of the great names, as well as to participate in exceptional events in the company of the magazine’s most prestigious journalists, notably, Carine Roitfeld in Paris, one of the journalists present to dedicate works and to share precious advice.
avenue Montaigne and rue François ier in the spotlight
In Paris, the event took place in the city’s kingdom of fashion, the “golden triangle”, whose main axes are Avenue Montaigne and Rue François I. Starting in late afternoon, numerous celebrities from show business, sports, or culture visited the boutiques. Buffets, champagne, and varied events accompanied the thousands of elegant visitors who literally invaded the sidewalks to meet one another, discuss the crisis – or the recovery – and to admire the show windows entirely “relookées” for the occasion. Despite the numerus clausus imposed for security (invitations were limited to regular clients and Vogue, GQ and AD readers), the extraordinary public turnout confi rmed the event’s success. In the gentle warmth of waning summer, the celebration went on into the night.
