Tell us about the Spring-Summer 2011 collection ?
Glittering colors, shimmering textures and mesmerizing movements.
A true tribute to the savoir-faire of the Louis Vuitton workshops, this collection succeeds in elevating decadence to an art. The influence of
the 1970’s is ever present: fluid and sylph-like silhouettes, or fine and sinuous with lively colors, often in a solid block, lame, lurex, sparkles
and glitter. “Chinoiseries” are also part of the recurring themes, with cheong-sam dresses, jackets with mandarin collars and monogram lace fans. Adorned with such a profusion of details, these garments have
nearly overshadowed the accessories, even if several silhouettes are punctuated by long earrings or art deco-style bracelets sculpted of Macassar ebony.
What’s new in leather goods and accessories for women ?
The collection of handbags created in collaboration with Sofia Coppola, with a chic and discreet style, has been enriched with new colors. Louis Vuitton’s fantasy jewelery has become the indispensable touch of glamour to accessorize a “very feminine, very chic,” style. Freedom of style becomes a game of seduction. Floating on a graphic and offbeat
spirit, the collection innovates to create a playful cocktail of colors and forms. Finally, the extraordinary becomes the norm, including a collection of handbags and clutches from the fashion show, created in ever more precious, exotic leathers, such as sharkskin.
What are the key moments for Louis Vuitton in 2011 ?
This year, 2011, will be the year of sophistication. To meet all of the expectations of our clients, products will be ever rarer and more exceptional. Our boutiques will continue to surprise, and in November, we will celebrate the opening of the first shop devoted to watches and jewelery, on Place Vendome.
