Yesterday, check the Musée Rodin welcomed the fashion pack who came to attend the Dior Haute Couture show Spring-Summer 2014. This fusion between fashion and culture created a magical ambiance, worthy of Haute Couture ! Here is our report on this new collection signed Raf Simons.
The setting of the show echoed the intimacy found in female salons of the 50s, which for the creative director, was paramount. The immaculate white covering angular forms mirrored the interior designs of the 60s, giving the show a retro-chic glam. The guests took their seats hastily, each looking for their assigned place. The lights filled the room and everyone waited impatiently for the first look to appear. The models emerged, walking in a synchronized motion to an electric beat. 52 looks in total were shown.
In this collection, we found all the finesse of transparency and embroidery, which are key to a feminine allure. Nonetheless, through cutwork fabrics that gave the styles a third dimension, we discovered an architectural perspective, blowing a fresh breeze over the world of Haute Couture. Black and white were the chosen ones, dressing silhouettes that were simple yet complex, as this was the most labor-intensive collection yet produced.
« I see this collection as almost abstract » says Raf Simons. « I wanted to focus on the idea of intimacy around couture more than anything else, the emotional experience of it; the relationship between the clients, the salon, the women. »
We salute Raf Simons on this fresh and ethereal collection !
