A CASCADE OF COLORS FOR THE CHANEL SPRING-SUMMER 2018 READY-TO-WEAR COLLECTION

The CHANEL Spring-Summer 2018 Ready-to-Wear collection was presented today, on Tuesday, October 3, 2017, in a rock and water décor that evokes the Gorges du Verdon, a famous waterfall canyon located in the south of France.

This season, the designer is writing a story with aqua tones. Iridescent rainbow palette, gold or silver sparkles recalling the reflections of the sun and the moon on the surface of the water, aqua printed fades of blue and white, vegetable greens, delicate roses and sharp tones like energy of nature, envelop the silhouette of Spring-Summer.

Defined by broad shoulders, « gently sloping » Karl Lagerfeld, or with fins, the structured line is softened by aerial flexibility. From the tweed Lurex to the crumpled-wrinkled silk, from the muslin to the lace, passing by the rich embroidery drops of water, it is each time question of games of light and water. There are also plays of materials: the leather is associated with tweed on bra and mini skirts, tweed patchworks dress sliced tones.

The dresses and wide woven tweed jackets stretch out of fringing fringes like tall aquatic weeds, coat dresses streaming with sparkling Lurex threads. The tailor’s jacket is combined with a vegetable-tone pantacourt, a dress with geometric stitching or a short iridescent skirt lined with twisted braid.

Contrast of the strict and the supple, the short and the long… XL blouses in white muslin, knotted in a scout scarf, are worn with straight mini-skirts. The muslin bustier sleeves with parquet pleated combine with sheer ruffled steering wheels. A call to lightness and softness illustrated by wrinkled lace dresses, frayed, or pleated silk. Dresses in embossed muslin and embroidered with crystal pendants accompany pleated dresses, or others in fishnet and ribbons with sleeves flying like waves.

With his elegant humor, Karl Lagerfeld wraps the CHANEL woman from small hoods, hoods, capes, mittens, boots and rain thighs in transparent plastic. The drop earrings are accompanied by blue and green fused jumps and crystal-clear pearl necklaces. On the arms, the bags are accumulated and become waterproof: this season, the bag GABRIELLE by CHANEL is made of PVC « needle » or rubber while the BOY CHANEL is it PVC iridescent. Protective cocoons, the transparent PVC quilted totes carry leather pouches and the small rain capes serve as a trench to all bags. A coated canvas printed logo and camelias dresses sporty bags while the nylon gradient and embossed pare XXL bags. Small backpacks alternate PVC and patent leather. 11.12, adorned with iridescent pastel glitter, responds to crystal plexiglass minaudiers, embroidered with sequins with changing or completely strassed reflections.

Les ambassadeurs G-dragon, Marine Vacth, Caroline de Maigret, Anna Mouglalis, Liu Wen, Alessandra Mastronardi, les actrices Monica Bellucci et Clémence Poesy, les chanteuses Ibeyi, Cindy Crawford et Inès de la Fressange ont applaudi la créativité de Karl Lagerfeld pour la collection Prêt-à-Porter Printemps-Été 2018 de CHANEL.
